How do you make varsity track/cross country?
Hi, I'm currently a freshman in high school, and I have never participated in a school sport before. However, since I realized that I do not get enough exercise, and that varsity sports look good on a college app, I should try out for the team next year. I'm pretty skinny though I do not really know how fast I really am compared to others as I have never raced on a real track before. I'm also planning on trying out for varsity tennis. What would you recommend that I do this summer so that I might be able to make varsity track or cross country next year (e.g. foods to eat, boosting endurance, excercises/stretches)? Any tips are appreciated.
kutekymmee, well, I suppose I am in pretty good shape as I am pretty skinny. I don't run much, and am not a very active person, but I suppose carrying a 70-pound backpack around the whole year(not on my back) has somewhat increased my stamina. I started playing outside every evening (biking, playing catch) just a few weeks ago, and will definitely try biking to the tennis court everyday in the summer.
